| Many
of our larger sculptures, including all of our fountains, are made of sheet
silicon bronze. We buy it in different thicknesses and it requires a
lot of force (up to 60 tons) to shape it, since it is not nearly
as soft as copper alone. It is the same material that is melted and
poured when casting. Most of our larger sculptures are constructed out
of this sheet bronze using patterns. The pieces of the patterns are
bent or pounded or shaped on the hydraulic press and then joined together
with weld. The three teapot bodies below were formed on the hydraulic
press and then welded and ground, and are waiting for cast details. |
