We vacuum cast the small details for our sculptures and fountains. A wax is needed for each element and many are cast together on a wax tree by the same method jewelers use. We use rubber molds to create the waxes, just as in shell casting. The wax tree is put in a metal flask and filled with a plaster investment material. The wax is melted out and the investment is heated before the flask is placed on a table that draws a vacuum on the flask to help pull the molten bronze into the tiniest areas. |
